Terms of use

1. Agreement and eligibility

These terms are an agreement between you and Roger Hamilton, operating in the United Kingdom under the business name Narrow Gate Labs, for Metrigram and its related services. By downloading, accessing or using Metrigram, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

You must be at least 18 to use Metrigram and must be legally able to accept these terms. Metrigram does not require or create a Narrow Gate Labs user account.

Metrigram is licensed, not sold. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these terms. If there is a conflict, mandatory law and Apple's required terms apply to the extent required.

2. Health, nutrition and training information

Health and nutrition information can be incomplete, delayed, estimated or wrong. Food composition varies, and sensors and third-party sources have limitations. Patterns or associations shown in your record do not establish cause and effect.

Exercise carries risk. Warm up appropriately, use suitable equipment and surroundings, and use technique appropriate to your experience. Seek guidance from a qualified fitness professional when you are unsure about a movement or programme. Stop exercising if you feel unwell, experience pain, dizziness or other concerning symptoms.

Seek appropriate medical advice before making significant diet or exercise changes, particularly if you have an injury or medical condition, take medication, are pregnant, or have concerns about your health. Do not rely on Metrigram for urgent or safety-critical decisions. Contact local emergency services in an emergency.

3. Subscriptions, trials and billing

Metrigram is offered as an automatically renewing subscription purchased through Apple. The price, billing period, trial availability and any tax are shown by Apple before you confirm a purchase. Regional prices may vary.

A free or discounted trial, when offered and when you are eligible, converts to the selected paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. Apple recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before a trial ends if you do not want it to renew.

Apple processes payment, renewal and cancellation. You can manage or cancel through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting Metrigram does not cancel a subscription.

Use Restore Purchases in Metrigram when a valid purchase is not recognised. Refund requests and eligibility are handled by Apple and applicable consumer law. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request an eligible refund.

4. AI-assisted and recognition features

Metrigram uses remote AI only for specific capture and interpretation features, mainly food-photo interpretation and occasional unresolved Voice or Describe inputs. Most nutrition and training functionality is deterministic. Only the input needed for the request is sent; your broader Metrigram record and Apple Health profile are not sent to the recognition provider.

Recognition and third-party food-data results may be incomplete, unavailable or inaccurate. Review and, where needed, adjust names, portions, ingredients and nutrition before saving or relying on a result.

Service access may be rate-limited, suspended or changed to protect reliability, security and cost. We do not guarantee that a particular provider, model or recognition route will always be available. Do not submit unlawful content or content you do not have the right to process.

5. Licence and acceptable use

Subject to these terms and Apple's usage rules, Narrow Gate Labs grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Metrigram on Apple devices you own or control.

You must not:

• copy, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit Metrigram except where law expressly permits;
• reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload, probe or bypass security or access controls;
• use automated means to extract content or abuse remote services;
• submit malicious, unlawful or rights-infringing content; or
• misrepresent Metrigram output as medical advice or guaranteed fact.

You retain rights in information you enter. You give us the limited permission needed to process it to provide the features you choose. Metrigram's software, design, branding and supplied content remain owned by Roger Hamilton trading as Narrow Gate Labs or the relevant licensors.

6. Availability, stopping use and deleting data

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Features can depend on Apple services, permissions, connectivity, compatible devices and third-party providers.

We may fix, improve, replace, limit or withdraw features. Where reasonably possible, we will avoid changes that unfairly remove paid value during an active billing period. We may suspend access where necessary for security, legal compliance, serious misuse or service integrity.

You may stop using Metrigram at any time. Subscription cancellation and data deletion are separate actions. To remove your core Metrigram record, delete the app from all your devices, choose whether to delete related Apple Health data when Apple offers that option, and delete Metrigram's private iCloud data through Apple Settings. No account-deletion request is required.

Sections that by their nature should continue, including intellectual property, disclaimers and liability terms, survive termination.

7. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Metrigram is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that estimates, reports, recommendations, imports, sync or third-party information will always be accurate, complete or available.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, Narrow Gate Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, lost opportunity or loss arising from decisions made in reliance on health, nutrition or training information.

If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, these terms are governed by the laws applicable in the part of the UK where you live and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, mandatory local consumer protections remain available.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the product or law changes. The date at the top identifies the current version. If a material change requires consent, we will request it appropriately.
